Invaluable Ways To Relieve Stress

Learn To Live In The SolutionInvaluable Ways To Relieve Stress

Live in the solution not the problem:   I had this sticky note on my computer for months. It was my daily affirmation while I was going through a really difficult time in my life.  If you ignore a problem it probably won’t go away, and may even get worse, although it seems easier to ignore it.  Focusing on the solution gave me renewed energy as I made a resolve to find a solution.  I especially tried to stop worrying about the things that I could not control, and set my mind on what I could control.

Daily Affirmations:  A visual reminder does wonders to relieve stress.  Little seeds of positive  thought  will fill your day.  Put these positive affirmations where you can see them, and change them often so you can fill your mind with a new burst energy daily.    My Daily Affirmation

Set Priorities & Boundaries:  Don’t  be afraid to say no, especially  when you feel you can’t give one more inch of yourself.  There is only so much time in one day. Be realistic and honest with yourself and others.     Learn When To Say No.    Setting Priorities.

“Kill Em With Kindness”

“Kill Em With Kindness”

There are so many stressed out people walking around angry, ready to snap at the slightest irritation.  Most of them have so much to do, so little time, striving to reach their dreams and struggling  to enjoy the journey.

It’s easy to get frustrated when people have a bad attitude especially if there is no reason for it, and it’s easy  to react with a nasty response.

If they make you mad you probably want to make them mad back , but guess who else gets some added anxiety. You! Our stress level rises, and this affects us in many negative ways.  Stress is unhealthy, stress is uncomfortable, and stress ages us.

The Weekly Challenge this week is “ Kill Em With Kindness.”   The feeling of satisfaction might just surprise you. Sometimes your kind response irritates them even more, surely a little bit of satisfaction you might enjoy, but more importantly,  you will spread the great  message  of peace and love.

You never know, but you might change their entire day with renewed faith in mankind, and you can enjoy the satisfaction of changing lives,  especially YOUR OWN.

“Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight.  Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster, and do it with no thought of any reward.  Your life will never be the same again.”  ~Og Mandino

Kindness, like a boomerang, it always returns.  ~Author Unknown

Super Mommy

Super MommyStill trying to be a super mommy?  Stop trying so hard.  You are probably already a super mommy to the person that counts most, your kid.  Sometimes when we give it our all it doesn’t feel like it is enough.
Dance classes, baseball games, homework, good friends, clothing, feeding, teaching, caring for, and nurturing, are just a few on the list of what women do for their children.
So much energy needed to be a good mommy, but many times our energy is used up on trying to be the best mommy in the eyes of other mothers, neighbors, and friends, and impressing everyone else so we can feel like a super mommy.
With many women,  there is a desire to  make sure our kids don’t miss out on anything, and we try so hard to be perfect, but perfection is not possible. In the eyes of our children many times they think we are the perfect mom already if we are striving for excellence everyday, not perfection.
Kids usually remember the funny jokes, the back yard campouts, getting tucked into bed with a goodnight kiss, and spending time with mommy, more than the toys they get. The easy stuff!
So here is a great quote to help you stay balanced and content with all you do for your children.
Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch  excellence.- Vince Lombardi
Refelct on the special moments in your life when you were a kid, and the great feeling of just “being there” with your super mommy.

The “I Get To” Attitude

The "I Get To" AttitudeWaking up with a list a mile long of things to do,  does not usually come with an “I Get To”  attitude.  Especially if it includes, laundry, dishes, wiping buts, and scrubbing toilets.  The mundane things in life can take the excitement out of a day.

It was a young girl at work that got me thinking;

After finishing my lunch  I said to a girl sitting next to me, “See you later, I have to go back to work”.  It enlightened me when she said, “No! You Get TO!”  A statement that stuck with me throughout the day and a charge that helped me feel rejuvenated.

I usually posess an “I have to” attitude, and it was time to change it.

Make Exercise A Habit

Make Exercise A HabitMost of us make a full hearted effort to start exercising, but usually an hour or two at the gym a few times a week gets pushed aside by other priorities.

Making fitness a part of your daily routine can be quite challenging for a woman with a busy schedule, and even for women who have plenty of leisure time, who would rather have fun doing something else they love. So How do you make exercise a habit and enjoy it?

There are  women like our  fitness blog writer Michelle Anderson, who make fitness look easy and enjoyable. She has so much enthusiasm for fitness and loves to share it .
Here are some great tips from Michelle.
  • -Sometimes you just have to do it!  Wake-up early and know that once you get going you NEVER regret waking up early.  I think of how great I feel when I finish a workout and how fresh and awake I feel for the rest of the day.  Its like a java jolt (without the java).
  • -I also like the “me” time.  I workout early in the morning and love the quiet house.  I know my day will be busy so evening exercise is harder for me.  Plus, I like to relax with my family in the evening.
  • -One thing I do while I’m brushing my teeth before bed is to lay out my workout clothes so in the dark morning I am not waking up the family rummaging through my dresser.
  • -Make it a priority!  It is easy to let exercise slip through the cracks if you don’t put any value on it.  So by making it a priority in my life has helped.  I do it BEFORE I get sucked into the day (checking emails, calling people back, making appts…. even reading the newspaper).  Make it happen first and you will stick with it.
  • -Make it fun.  You have to find an exercise that you like to do.  If you like yoga- do that if you don’t find something that you enjoy.  I like to mix it up and be challenged. I love getting all sweaty in by running in the morning.  My morning shower feels so sweet!  I also love lifting weights..such a challenge.

Keep Your Home Looking Beautiful

storageNo matter what style you choose, you can easily keep your home looking beautiful with these cleaning and organizing tips.

When you choose your decor and choose the style you love, consider choosing the things that will help you  keep your home clean as well, and make cleanliness and organization a part of your decorating choices.

Choosing items that make it easy to keep your house clean will be one of the most valuable  decisions in home decorating. The decorating items you bring into your home will continue to look beautiful with organization and cleanliness.

If you love a warm and cozy style it is important not to overpower the beauty and warmth of your style with TOO MUCH STUFF!

Too many decorations can make a clean home look cluttered and dirty even when it is not.  The beautiful décor items you love are less noticeable when there are too many of them in the same area of your home. Keep the items you love most, and donate or discard the rest.

If you love clean lines or a simple look, this style is much easier to keep tidy and clean, BUT… it can look messy and dirty when you leave even the most necessary items out of place, like your shoes or a coffee cup. Even a spill on your countertop can be very noticeable.

Bring in a few wow items to warm up the space. They will distract from the little day to day messes that haven’t been cleaned up yet.

Get rid of stuff you are not using. For years I wondered where all the lids for the plastic containers went. Did the dishwasher eat them?  I found that if there were too many, or there were too many different shapes and sizes, it was difficult to keep organized.

This also holds true for dishes, cups, etc.  Keep it simple. If you are not using items, get rid of them. If you use them only during special occasions, put them on the top shelf or away from the items you use daily.

Deal With It

Deal With ItThe Best Advice Ever

“Put your big girl panties on and deal with it”- by Roz Van Meter

When I first saw this quote I could envision about a dozen other women it could apply to, thinking about the ones who always seek attention, and complain constantly.

I was NOT thinking about how it applied to me. My thoughts were about the many women I knew who need this advice, but after dealing with the many problems in my life, trying to stay positive, and trying to find solutions, a light went off in my head when this quote came up again, and I realized I really needed this advice for myself.
